Plan an Event
Fundraising events are one of many ways to support medical research, education, and service at the University of Minnesota. If you would like to plan a Fundraising event for the benefit of the University or Minnesota Medical Foundation, please review the Event Guidelines and submit a Request for Fundraising Event Sponsorship Form. To help make your event a success, the Minnesota Medical Foundation can:
- Provide event planning tools, such as event vendor lists and checklists, and general advice on a limited basis
- Review promotional materials and, if appropriate, approve the use of and provide a logo for the University program or center to be benefited or of the Minnesota Medical Foundation
- Assist in directing contributions to a specific area of interest, such as research, equipment, or an academic program that has special meaning
- Promote the event on the Minnesota Medical Foundation’s website and other event calendar listings as appropriate
- Provide a written tax receipt to donors who make their checks payable to the Minnesota Medical Foundation. In order to have the most accurate information on the receipt, we require all relevant information regarding the value of goods and services the donor received in exchange for payment.
For legal and other reasons, the Minnesota Medical Foundation cannot perform the following activities or functions for events it does not directly sponsor:
- Extend its tax exemption
- Issue receipts for donations not made directly to the Minnesota Medical Foundation
- Provide insurance coverage or secure permits
- Provide mailing lists of donors, physicians, employees, or volunteers.
- Provide foundation letterhead
- Provide onsite staff or volunteers to work at event
- Provide banking, funding, or reimbursement of expenses
- Solicit sponsorship revenue for your Fundraising activities
- Provide publicity (newspaper, radio, TV coverage, etc.)
- Distribute promotional materials throughout the University of Minnesota
- Guarantee attendance of University or foundation staff, faculty, physicians, or patients at the event
- Provide auction services or systems
