Cancer patient and Univesrity of Minnesota doctor.

Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer.

It's hard not to. At the University of Minnesota, doctors and researchers are helping thousands of people prevent, manage, or overcome cancer with early detection and the most innovative treatments.

Cancer has been a focus of research at the University for decades. Throughout the years, doctors here have pioneered several cancer treatments, including the world's first successful bone marrow transplant in 1968. Our researchers are still leading the way by using natural killer cells to destroy cancers, looking at more advanced ways to detect and treat breast cancer, and delivering chemotherapy directly and only to the site of the cancer.

The Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, is one of the National Cancer Institute's 39 Comprehensive Cancer Centers. This means The Cancer Center can offer its patients the most innovative investigational treatments and clinical trials, ultimately helping scientists take their research from the laboratories to the patient's bedside.
