University of Minnesota vision doctor

Eye disease affects people of all ages, from newborn babies to those in their golden years.

Research at the University of Minnesota is helping doctors get the most advanced treatments to people whose view of the world has been blurred or blocked by vision disorders.

Because of research at the University, eye patients often benefit from the latest diagnostic tools and treatments before they're available elsewhere. Physicians here developed improved treatments for ocular surface disease, facial spasm, and corneal transplants. They also formulated the world's most used solution for corneal tissue storage.

Currently, University scientists are conducting studies in several areas. For example, they're working to create effective medical devices to improve eye pressure for glaucoma patients and to deliver drugs to the back of the eye to treat macular degeneration.
