Schmit-Steer Award
Applications are invited for the Schmit-Steer Award, which recognizes outstanding basic scientific research in biochemistry at the University of Minnesota Medical School, Twin Cities.
Through this award, Randolph C. Steer, M.D., Ph.D., and his brother, Clifford J. Steer, M.D., professor of medicine and cell biology at the University of Minnesota, wish to recognize Mrs. Eraine B. Schmit, an outstanding educator and humanitarian whose contributions to education in chemistry, biological sciences, and the humanities have motivated and stimulated thousands of students over the years.
Ph.D. candidates at the University of Minnesota Medical School who are conducting or have conducted research in basic biological chemistry at the Medical School are eligible to apply. The Medical School will coordinate the selection process and a faculty committee will choose the recipient. The award will be presented in the spring and consists of a $700 cash prize and certificate.
Application Process
Appropriate applications include:
- Completed application form (Microsoft Word);
- Cover letter outlining the nature of the research;
- Letter of sponsorship from a member of the faculty; and
- CV or resume.
