Steer-Pruitt Award
Applications are invited for the Steer-Pruitt Award, which recognizes outstanding cardiovascular research by a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
The award honors the memory of Dr. Raymond D. Pruitt, who was the founding dean of Mayo Medical School and Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota and Mayo Medical School. The award was established by his former student, Randolph C. Steer, M.D., Ph.D. It recognizes Dr. Pruitt's outstanding contributions as an educator, clinical and basic scientist, administrator and humanitarian, and the opportunities that his vision and kindness provided to students from around the world.
Ph.D. candidates at the University of Minnesota Medical School who are conducting or have conducted cardiovascular research at the Medical School are eligible to apply. The Medical School will coordinate the selection process. A faculty committee will choose the recipient. The award will be presented in the spring and consists of a $1,000 cash prize and certificate.
Application Process
Appropriate applications include:
- Completed application form (Microsoft Word);
- Cover letter outlining the nature of the research;
- Letter of sponsorship from a member of the faculty; and
- CV or resume.
