Medical School Scholarships

The Minnesota Medical Foundation recognizes the significant financial pressure placed on University of Minnesota medical students. With the average debt among our most recent graduates surpassing $100,000, expansion of the scholarship program is one of our top fund-raising priorities.

Scholarships are awarded to Medical School students through the financial aid offices at both the Twin Citiesand Duluth campuses. Eligibility is determined through a standard nationwide financial aid application process.

In 2006-2007 academic year, the foundation awarded over $1.5 million in nearly 600 scholarships. Some require an application or nomination; view the list of scholarships for specific details.

More information about scholarships is available from the Medical School Financial Aid Office.

School of Public Health Scholarships

The School of Public Health makes numerous financial awards to incoming students each fall semester. Some recipients are selected by the admissions committees in each major, and some by a school-wide scholarship committee. Applicants who wish to be considered for an award must submit a scholarship form with their application materials.

In addition, School of Public Health scholarships are awarded to graduate students by committees within the Divisions of Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology, and Health Services Research and Policy.  Criteria are specified by the donor of the scholarship. For more information about awards conferred by division and majors, visit their respective Web sites.

School of Public Health financial aid and scholarships are coordinated and administered by the School of Public Health Student Services Center. Contact them at sph-ssc@tc.umn.edu or 612-626-3500 for more information.
